...Twitter.
Thank you to the lovely Caron for tagging me with this meme. I especially like her description of me as: "the lovely book loving, F1 loving, Lewis Hamilton loathing Kate"
When did you join Twitter?
On the 4th of March 2007. Yes. I know! Having read back on my old blog for March 2007 it turns out I joined Twitter before I joined Facebook. Now that's just scary.
Why did you join Twitter?
I had a few blogging friends who joined it at the same time, namely Keris, Caroline and Soraya. A couple of others like Jamaila joined a couple of months later. I thought it seemed like an interesting thing. It has become a fascinating thing.
Who is/was your first or oldest follower? Who did you follow first? Tell me all about them.
The first people I followed were/are:
Keris
EmLah
DianeShipley
Sorayaleila

(this is what happens when you're an early adopter!)
Do you have any celebrities following you, or have you ever had a DM from a celeb?
I have a couple of celebrity followers. Like a few of the early adopters, I'm followed by Stephen Fry (although I very much doubt he reads my tweets). I'm also followed by Jason Bradbury (from the Gadget Show), Meg Cabot (another early adopter bonus), Katie Fforde (one of my favourite authors), and Phill Jupitus (who sent me a DM saying he loved my use of the word "ditsy" in my Twitter profile and promptly followed me).
As for DM's, I've had a few from the above mentioned fabulous people, plus Suzi Perry has sent me a few (she tends to reply to messages via DM, unlike most other celebs I follow who often reply in the main feed). I also had a couple from Nelson Piquet Jr. after the events of last year.
If you could follow anyone not on Twitter – alive, dead, real or fictional – on Twitter, who would it be?
Hmmm. That's a tough one. There's quite a few fictional characters that I would love to see on Twitter, but to be honest none of them are actually the kind of people that would use Twitter! I do sometimes wonder what my ex Jamie would have made of it all. I suspect he'd have introduced me to it!
Which came first? Twitter or blog?
Oh the blog, the blog. First ever blog post
------------------------
I now apparently have to tag a few other people. I shall go with the usual suspects, Keris, Clover and Caroline. Plus Kayels and Jay to get some Twitter-first people in there too!

Now I haven't actually...
...been tagged by Caron for this meme but her post made me giggle so I had to do it myself.
Just like her I could also choose Lewis Hamilton (Red means stop you twassock!) or Ashley Cole (I don't even like Cheryl much but Ashley is scum), I could even have chosen the dreadful Katie Price, mainly because I'm fed up with selling books with her face on them.
Instead I've gone for a man who makes my blood pressure rocket. A man who has the job of passing on other peoples whiny comments on a Saturday morning.
(and please bear in mind the torment I went through to find this!)
BBC Newswatch
I'm sure he's a lovely man really, but his voice is like fingernails on a blackboard to me!

Musical...
...meme.
Make your band's album cover!
1. Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
3. Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use Photoshop (or something like picnik.com) to put it all together.
Here's mine:

and just in case anyone wants to know more about the Minakshisundaram-Pleijel zeta function...just click on the name. (then nod and smile like you understand it. If you do understand it...stop reading my blog and go and invent time-travel or something.)

1. Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
3. Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use Photoshop (or something like picnik.com) to put it all together.
Here's mine:

A Facebook note...
...on t'blog.
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
1. I wish snow would go away tidily. I like it when it's here and new and fresh, but when it's starting to go and has melted and refrozen then it's just very very slippy and annoying!
2. I have been meaning to take photographs of my walk to work for over a year now.
3. I did it this morning because the snow would make everything look pretty.
4. But I'm not going to upload them until tomorrow as this house is freezing so I'm going to bed early to keep warm.
5. I judge books by their covers. Only in the fact that if a book I love is available in a hideous cover for £5 or a lovely cover for £10 then I'll spend the extra and get the lovely one.
6. I still have all my birthday cards up because I can't bear to take them down yet.
7. I have hardly any feeling in my right hand at the moment because it's so bloody cold.
8. I really need to buy some fingerless gloves to type in. (The pair I had last year were normal gloves with the fingers hacked off and they unravelled).
9. I buy books the way some people buy clothes.
10. If I'm happy, I buy a book. If I'm sad, I buy a book. If I really really want to kill one of my co-workers...I buy a book and then read it at lunchtime with my iPod on so she can't natter at me.
11. I have issues with suppressed rage. (and one of my co-workers).
12. I spent a whole hour on Saturday choosing which audiobook I should download next from Audible. It was a tough decision!
13. I eventually decided on The Borrowers by Mary Norton. (and if you click to play the sample, you'll hear her talk about me).
14. I do love books that have a Kate in. You don't get many of them, they all tend to be Katie instead.
15. One of the best ones was a little girl called Mary Kate. (Mary is my middle name). She was a well behaved, neat and tidy little girl. My exact opposite!
16. I wish I could be tidier. I do try. I'm just not very good at picking up after myself.
17. I also remain terribly bad at washing up.
18. One day I shall have a dishwasher! (and be terribly bad about emptying it)
19. I follow the random article link on Wikipedia every day to see if I'll learn something fascinating.
20. Today I learnt about the King's Pawn Game.
21. I am terrible at chess.
22. I got a personalised Monopoly game for Christmas that includes Chance cards where Lewis Hamilton retires, the cats win an advertising contract and my letting agent finds me a "large, cheap house - with library".
23. I don't know how I'm going to cope in the future without a dedicated book room. Eep.
24. But I'd like to point out that I'm NOT going to throw loads of them out! (Would be no good anyway, see #9)
25. I'm now going to bed with a) the electric blanket turned up high, b) Easy Italian on my iPod, c) Stolen by Kelley Armstrong and d) dinner = burger and chips.
I have tagged you on the book of face. And no, I don't think tagging people who have already done it is cheating!

Last week...
...in fact the very day of my last post, the lovely Michelle tagged me. Thank you Michelle!

Since I am a bad blogger (and currently ill) I have not responded to her tagging. So while I am having five minutes of not feeling terrible, here it is.
One word answers only. (and I've done my best not to expand!)
1. Where is your cell phone? Sofa
2. Where is your significant other? Birmingham
3. Your hair color? Blonde
4. Your mother? Essex
5. Your father? Deaded
6. Your favorite thing? Chocolate
7. Your dream last night? Reading
8. Your dream/goal? Ongoing
9. The room you're in? Cold
10. Your hobby? Cross-stitch
11. Your fear? Loss
12. Where do you want to be in 6 years? Family
13. Where were you last night? Bed
14. What you're not? Organised
15. One of your wish-list items? Framing (for one of my many finished cross-stitches)
16. Where you grew up? Billericay
17. The last thing you did? Yawn
18. What are you wearing? TWO jumpers
19. Your TV? Off
20. Your pets? Crazy
21. Your computer?
22. Your mood? Poorly
23. Missing someone? Yes
24. Your car? Broken (still)
25. Something you're not wearing? Contacts
26. Favorite store? Work
27. Your summer? Grey
28. Love someone? Anthony
29. Your favorite color? Turquoise
30. When is the last time you laughed? Yesterday
31. Last time you cried? Earlier
I am now supposed to tag five other people, but since the five other people I would normally tag have all been tagged already, I shall not bother this time. Edited to add: Emily has just done it off her own bat. I forget about tagging my sister!
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going back to flake out on the sofa and feel ill. Although I shall have to do a little tidying as a man from Virgin will be here between 1-6 to fit a V+ Box. (and just to reassure my sister who worries about my money, I got mine for £30)
